Meet Wendy Culbertson
Wendy Culbertson has loved Irish Setters since she was a young girl. She trained her first Irish Setter in obedience through Utility, but her real interest was the breed ring. Over the years, Wendy has bred and owned many champions.
In 1990, Wendy got her first PBGV (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen). She began showing in the breed ring the very first weekend the breed was recognized by AKC. Over the course of about eight years, Wendy bred and owned dozens of champion PBGVs, including two multiple Best in Show dogs. Wendy is proud to have campaigned one of the top-winning dogs, Quinn, in the history of the breed. Quinn was a top-winning Hound and in 1996 won a Group 2 at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club. During his career, Quinn won more than 100 group placements. He was the #1 PBGV in the country for three years.
In 2006, Wendy ventured into the agility ring for the first time with her Irish Setter, Gypsy, who was almost 10 at the time. Gypsy earned both her Novice titles that very first weekend, and the rest, as they say, is history. They were both hooked!

Wendy is extremely proud to be an AKC Breeder of Merit and the only person in the country to have bred five Irish Setter agility champions, four of whom were breeder/owner handled. They are MACH5 Sophie, CH MACH Tango, MACH PACH Bridget, PACH Hope, and MACH Dudley.
Wendy also has the only MACH Irish Setter who has produced a MACH Irish Setter: CH MACH Tango has two MACH daughters, MACH5 Sophie and MACH PACH Bridget.
Sophie (MACH5 Redfeathers Saratoga MXG2 MJC2 OF T2B RATN CGC) was Wendy’s first MACH dog and the youngest Irish Setter to earn that title. She was invited to the AKC Agility Invitational four times (2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014), and competed all four times. Sophie also qualified for the AKC Agility Nationals of 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Tango (CH MACH Redfeathers Hullabaloo MXB MJS MXP2 MJP3 MJPB OF OFP) qualified for the AKC Agility Nationals of 2011 and 2014. In 2013, she was the #1 Preferred Irish Setter.
Bridget (MACH PACH Redfeathers I Hope You Dance MXB MJB MXPB MXP2 MXPB MJP3 MJPB PAX OF T2B CGC) qualified for the AKC Agility Nationals of 2015 and 2017. In 2016, Bridget was the #2 Preferred Irish Setter.
Hope (PACH Redfeathers Priceless MXP4 MXPB MJP5 MJPS PAX NFP RATI) was the #5 Preferred Irish Setter in 2014 and 2015.
Ava (Redfeathers Raising The Bar AXP AJP OFP RATO) is currently the fastest Irish Setter running in agility.
Wendy currently enjoys running Bridget and Ava in agility and following and encouraging her students on their own agility journeys.
